Generous portions are a consistent highlight among patrons, making it a great value for money. Customers rave about the freshness of the fish, emphasizing its perfect cooking and thin batter, which many prefer. The curry sauce has received positive mentions, with diners appreciating its flavorful punch. Friendly and efficient service enhances the dining experience, making it feel welcoming and unhurried. Those who prefer a quick bite will enjoy the takeaway option, allowing them to savor their meals on the go. Plus, The Codfather’s varied menu, featuring not only fish and chips but also sausages, burgers, and pies, provides something for everyone.

Most Disliked

While many adore The Codfather, a few critiques have surfaced. Some diners have noted that the flavor of the chips could use improvement, suggesting a need for a distinctive taste that might set them apart from other local chippies. A few customers have expressed disappointment at the oiliness level, hoping for a cleaner finish to their meals. Additionally, during peak times, the restaurant can get quite busy, leading to longer wait times, which some guests find less enjoyable. Overall, while the flavors are often lauded, there are some fine-tuning opportunities to elevate the dining experience even further.

It seems to have changed since I tried it over a year ago. Very generous portions now. Batter is thin which is exactly how I like it, chips are tasty, curry sauce is perfect. Best fish and chips we've had in a long time!

You really do get value for money in here. The portions are very generous. I've had fish and chips here several times and the fish has always been big. Lots of chips too. The only thing I would say is i'd like to see something about the taste of their chips ect to be a bit different. A lot of the chippy's around Bury have their own distinct taste, maybe due to what they fry in and I feel like this place could really do with that. It's very generic tasting. It's good food. Generous portions but it doesn't stand out as much as it could and I think that could really put this place on the map.

Portions are bigger that average for most chippie's in the town, cheap in comparrison too. Always taste good & fresh not left from lunchtime & re-heated like some! Cod is best I've ever had, humongous. Good curry sauce too.
